The Killer Inside me (2010)

This movie had well known actors such as Casey Affleck, Kate Hudson, and Jessica Alba. Casey Affleck’s character, Lou Ford is a small town deputy sheriff who finds himself involved in a rape and murder investigation of Jessica Alba’s charter, prostitute Joyce Lakeland. Views will be surprised at the twist the plot takes, not only at the end but when throughout the entire thing. You will be shocked to see who the killer is and how easy killing comes to them.

This is one of those movies that I don’t to tell too much about because I am fearful that it will ruin the suspense of the plot.

This movie came as a complete surprise to me. I had not heard anything about it until we went to rent a movie one night. It was one of those movies we just picked up because there was nothing to else to watch and I really like Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba. It was surprisingly good and I would strongly recommend it anyone who likes suspense/drama films.

Where have I been---

I know it has been way too long since I updated my blog. I have seen so many movies that I need to get on here. I am going to try my best to get this updated and stay on top of things. First up...The Social Network. Please read on and come back for more movie updates very soon.

The Socal Network (2010)

I held off as long as I could but I ended up watching the Social Network last night. It lived up to the hype. For those of you who might have been living under a rock for the last few months, this movie is about the founder of Facebook and how the most famous site in the world was started. At first it was hard to follow but it all came together as the movie continued. Jesse Eisenberg, played founder Mark Zuckerberg and did an excellent job. When watching the movie you actually believed that he was the founder not just playing a part.

The thing I found to be ironic is that Justin Timberlake played the founder of Napster, seeing how he is a recording artist and I am sure was very against Napster back in its hay day. Once again, I am shocked that he is actually a good actor and does not just get parts in these major movies because he is Justin Timberlake.

I saw several reports that Facebook founder March Zuckerberg was upset by the movie and felt it did not portray him well but I think it was told very well. Of course the thought that he is being accused of stealing the idea for Facebook from other is not something you want highlighted. However it seemed to me that the movie showed the exact opposite of this accusation. It is one thing to think of an idea, it is another to actually have the courage, insight and ability to make that idea happen. I think Mark should be proud of how this turned out. I found myself thinking, “How does one obtain the knowledge to even start something as big and technologically advanced as Facebook.”

I would defiantly recommend that anyone who has used Facebook watch this movie and let’s face it, that is everyone.

The Lovely Bones

The Lovely Bones-

I will make this post short and sweet. I would not recommend this movie. It was nothing like I thought I would be. I thought it was going to be more like a drama about finding out who the girls killer was but it wasn't. I have not read the book myself but I have been told that the book is much better and the movie does not follow the book very well.

Sorry for the short post and very few details but honestly I really did not like this movie so I don't have too much to say about it.

Kick-Ass (2010)

Kick-Ass is about a high school kid who wants to know why no one has tried to be a superhero in real life. He lives in a rough part of town and is often bullied. He gets frustrated that people are so willing to look on and watch things happen and never take action. So he sets out to be a superhero and sick up for the little guy. Since he has no real special talent, or even an ounce of muscle, he gets himself into some situations that he is not capable of handling on his own. When a high powered drug dealer and his son, played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse (better known as McLovin in the 2007 film Superbad) get involved, things get pretty tough for Kick-Ass and he realizes this is no longer a game.

In my opinion the best charter in this movie was Chloe Moretz who played Hit Girl. She looks like a sweet little girl but don’t you don’t want to get in her way. She made this movie worth watching.

Overall the movie was Okay. I would recommend that you rent it and not pay theater prices, it is not a must see. The middle of the movie was a dull and I got bored. The end however was action packed and saved the movie. This is not a kid’s movie, it was rated R for a reason. Within the first 5 minutes you will see what I am talking about.

Everybody's Fine (2009)

Everybody's Fine stars Robert De Niro, Drew Barrymore, and Kate Bechinsale. Robert De Niro's character, Frank, goes on a road trip to see all his kids after one by one they turned down an invite to come to see him. He just wants the whole family to be together all in one place.

I really enjoyed watching this movie. It was very sad the way his kids were pushing him away because they were trying to protect him from finding out that one of his sons was in very serious trouble. Each kid was also leading a different life then what their father had expected. No one wanted to be a disappointment to their father. It was a very heartwarming film about family and being importance of acceptance and being together.

I recommend this movie! If you are really the sensitive type you might need a tissue.

I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell (2009)

Not a whole lot to say about this movie. It was about this self absorbed, would do anything to get laid guy. Of course his actions hurt his best friends throughout the movie and did some unheard of things. I thought it would have been funnier but I laughed very little.

Overall I did not like this movie. It was boring to watch. The website http://www.ihopetheyservebeerinhell.com/ is just as entertaining (or even more so) as the movie and you will not waste as much time.

You might think this is a good guy movie but my husband did not like this one either..

Alice in Wonderland 3D (2010)

Everyone knows the story of Alice of Wonderland but Tim Burton puts an interesting twist on this Disney Classic. By now most of you have already seen this movie but if you haven't you will be pleasantly surprised. It is not the same old Alice in Wonderland that you have been watching for years, it is most like a sequel to the original version.

As always Johnny Depp puts on a wonderful performance as the Mad Hatter, as does Mia Wasikowska as Alice. My favorite character was the Red Queen, played by Helena Bonham Carter, but then again my favorite line in Alice in Wonderland has always been "off with their head."

This was a must see film but hurry to catch it before it leaves the theaters because you must see it in 3D.

Food, Inc. Documentary

WOW, that is how I describe this documentary. I went into this movie with no real expectations. I am not a vegan or even a vegetarian but this movie really made me think. It is a real shame to see how the animals are treated on large farms that product the majority of the meat we (as Americans) consume. Not to mention the fact that many of them are likely to get diseases (that are passed on to us in their meat) just do to their surroundings. It made me think more about buying organic and from local farmers.

If you don't want to see the sad, curl truth about how the animals are treated and killed this movie is not for you. If you want some inside truth as to where your food comes from watch this movie. I am not going to lie and tell you that now I buy all organic and only at farmers markets now but it will make me make an effort to do it more often.

This documentary was a real eye opener and very informative. I would recommend this one for sure.

The Box (2009)

With Cameron Diaz, James Marsden, Frank Langella

Basically this movie is about a husband and wife that are presented with a BOX. This box contains a button that if pushed, will kill someone they do not know and in return they will get 1 million dollars. If they choose to not push the button then nothing happens and the box is returned. There are a few catches to actually pushing button but I don't want to ruin the movie if you choose to see it.

It pains me to say this, because I am huge Cameron Diaz fan, but this movie was not worth watching. It was weird and the way they tried to tie everything together was confusing. Cameron Diaz's character had a southern accent but it was one of the worst accents ever. It would come and go as she spoke and to make it worst there was no need for the accent. No one else in the film had one. It only added to my dislike of the movie.

They story line could have made for a god movie but this was not it. This was one we rented and I am glad we did not pay theater ticket prices to see it. In my opinion, it was Cameron Diaz's worst movie. I would not recommend that you watch this movie unless you are all out of other movies to watch and just wanted to kill some time.

Shutter Island

This was one of my favorite Leonardo DiCaprio movies. I am going to have a hard time reviewing this movie in fear that I will give too much away and ruin it for those who have not viewed this Scorsese thriller.

It was definitely not what I expected and for the better. I was prepared to be really freaked out but that was not the case at all. It was very suspenseful and the ending was a compete shocker. The trailer makes it look scarier then it really was.

You have to see this movie you have not already. Not only because it was a great movie but you will want to talk about the ending with others.

She's Out of My League

My husband and I went to see She's Out of My League today. To be honest the main the reason we HAD to see this movie on opening weekend was because I was an extra in the movie. So of course I wanted to see if I was going to have my face on the big screen. To my surprise this movie is now ranked pretty high my list of favorite romantic comedies. The plot was pretty typical to all romantic comedies so no surprises there but the comedy was definitely there. Everyone in the theatre was laughing throughout the movie. Which was a relief because I feared that the all the funny parts were already seen in the trailer for the movie (I hate when that happens).

Alice Eve was the perfect 10 girl (you can see more of her in Maxim Magazine next month) and she really fit the role. She was pretty, funny and entertaining to watch. I am sure my husband (and many other men) enjoyed the bedroom scene! I hope to see more of her in future movies.

To sum up I would definitely recommend this movie and it is one I would watch again. Not to mention the views of Pittsburgh were amazing.

For those of you are interested I was seen the movie, but it was the back of me. So, no face time for me. Maybe next time!
